If You Have to Cry Go Outside by Kelly Cutrone
If you have read my posts about Normal Gets you Nowhere you have witnessed my love for Kelly Cutrone. I immediately decided to read If You Have to Cry Go Outside after reading Normal Gets you Nowhere first. I love hearing about her journey and her feelings of being destined for the career she is now in. I similarly feel drawn towards fashion and big cities and love hearing that I am not unrealistic. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book about following your dreams:
“Ask yourself: Is it possible the voices you’ve been listening to from birth may not have been your own?”
“Believe that your inner voice is the voice of your soul.”
“Gather up your courage like an armful of free clothes at a McQueen sample sale and follow your inner voice wherever it takes you.”
“When you are the most happening person at the party, it’s time to leave.”
This next quote really resonates with me and where I am, just starting in an industry:
“If you don’t let what you don’t know stop you from doing your best in every situation, you will surprise yourself over and over in life.”
I always feel so inspired after reading her books.

The Selfie Series IV
Today I took some selfies wearing camo Apt. 9 shorts from Kohls, a Rock & Republic vest from Kohls, a Simply Vera necklace from Kohl’s, and brown studded Rock & Republic ankle boots. So much Kohls! But my tank top is from BCBG (one of my other favorites). The last picture is my guilty pleasure selfie photo type. I’m not sure that is a thing, but I love twirling and catching my hair at the perfect moment!

Hello! ❤
I work on campus at UC Davis and fortunately we do not have much of a dress code. On a typical day I wear a pair of jeans, a patterned top, and a pair of fun sandals. Most of my tops are Simply Vera from Kohls because they are usually more formal but loose and comfortable. They always have great vibrant patterns! Below is what I wore today:
Back to Fall
With fall and school right around the corner, our closets are anticipating the transition to sweaters and boots. We all have favorite pieces that survive the seasons and show up the following year. My knee high brown Carlos boots will be around for a very long time. They are a nice shade of brown and look great with most skinny jeans or leggings. This season I am wanting to purchase more over sized sweaters. They are so comfortable and go great with scarfs. What are some pieces that you are looking forward to bringing back for fall? What are you wanting to purchase to get ready for the upcoming season? Here is a classic outfit that I anticipate wearing frequently this fall.
The Selfie Series III
Today I took some pictures in a new top that I ordered from Kohls. It is a black mesh tank by Derek Lam. I am also wearing a gold Simply Vera necklace. I had fun with wearing more eye liner than I normally do.
Would you ever wear a mesh top and what would you wear it with?
